about us

Ajani has been passionate about lacrosse since she first picked up a stick as a sophomore in high school. As a New York City native, Ajani faced limited exposure which delayed her introduction to the sport. With determination and hard work, by her senior year, Ajani earned a full scholarship to play lacrosse at the collegiate level. However, choosing to focus on academics, she declined the offer and went on to graduate from Stevenson University in Baltimore, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Biology while on the pre-med track.

After two years in medical school, Ajani realized her true passion was still with lacrosse, and she found her way back to the game she once loved. Now, a Baltimore City resident, Ajani is committed to introducing young girls of color to lacrosse at an early age—something she didn’t have the chance to experience. As a current coach for the Baltimore Terps Girls Lacrosse program, she’s dedicated to sharing the game with the next generation.

With the belief that knowledge is power, Ajani is passionate about educating and exposing Black communities to the rich history and origins of lacrosse. A strong advocate for self-love, Ajani is focused on creating a space where young girls can be unapologetic while also nurturing their minds and bodies. This vision led to the birth of Black Girls Lax Too Inc.

A Brooklyn native, Assata discovered her love for lacrosse as a freshman in high school, and since then, the sport has played a pivotal role in her life. She currently volunteers with the Baltimore Terps Girls Lacrosse team and previously coached the Winners Brookland Middle School Girls Lacrosse Team in Washington, DC.
